The Freshest Idahoan Potatoes

Welcome to Jentzsch Kearl Farms, nestled in the heart of Southern Idaho—home to some of the finest potatoes in the world. Our 40,000-acre farm is dedicated primarily to potato cultivation, where ideal conditions come together to produce the highest quality crops.

Southern Idaho’s warm days, cool nights, rich volcanic soil, and abundant mountain-fed irrigation create the perfect environment for growing premium potatoes. These natural advantages help make Idaho the nation’s leading potato-producing state, responsible for over one-third of the U.S. supply.

At Jentzsch Kearl Farms, we grow eight different potato varieties, with the renowned Russet Burbank leading the pack. From seed to harvest, we take pride in delivering fresh, flavorful, and dependable potatoes that reflect the best of Idaho agriculture.

Quality Grown Crops

While potatoes are our primary crop, sugar beets rank second in terms of acreage. Since the industry-wide adoption of Roundup Ready genetics in 2008, we’ve been able to significantly reduce herbicide use while increasing overall yields. This advancement allows us to produce more sugar per unit of water, fertilizer, and chemical—supporting both greater efficiency and environmental sustainability.

In addition to potatoes and sugar beets, we grow a diverse range of crops including alfalfa, corn, and grain, primarily for rotational purposes. This diversity not only promotes soil health but also helps ensure long-term productivity across our 40,000-acre operation.

Our commitment to innovation, sustainability, and smart land management keeps us moving forward—and always learning.

Supporting Local Dairies, Strengthening Our Community

At Jentzsch Kearl Farms, we’re proud to partner with multiple local dairies in a mutually beneficial exchange. We supply high-quality forage, hay, and corn, and in return, receive nutrient-rich compost that we apply to our fields to enhance soil fertility and support long-term soil health.

This sustainable cycle not only improves crop yields but also contributes to carbon sequestration, reinforcing our commitment to responsible farming. By keeping our rotational crops and resources local, we strengthen community ties and relationships—just the way we like it.

MEET JENTZSCH-KEARL FARMS

About Us

Jentzsch Kearl Farms got its humble start when Rod Jentzsch set out to make his mark on the world. With only a few hundred acres of borrowed land, a handful of employees, and tenacious determination, Rod began building his farm. In 1986, Rod partnered with Joe Kearl, and Jentzsch Kearl Farms was born. The two proved to be an unstoppable duo as the strengths of each partner melded into a successful business. Together, they developed one of the most extensive farms in the Magic Valley.

Now farming in seven counties across southern Idaho, Jentzsch Kearl Farms is dedicated to being good stewards of the land while producing the highest quality potatoes and sugar beets in the region. We strive to provide our employees with a safe and encouraging place to work and to be positive contributors in each of the communities that we farm in.

OUR PROCESS

Learn More About Our Crops

Potatoes

We are proud to produce famous “Idaho Potatoes” that are used in fresh pack, French fries, dehydrated potato products, and more. We start potato planting in mid- March and harvest in August/early October. While it takes a lot to produce a successful potato crop, some of the most crucial factors are: soil health, proper inputs, water, and weather.

Sugar Beets

Sugar beets are one of the major raw materials for sugar manufactured in the United States. Typically, sugar beets are planted during March/April. Profits are based on three key factors: beet yield, sucrose content, and sucrose recovery.

Dairy Feed Products
We focus on partnering our rotational crops with local dairies to create mutually beneficial relationships. By so doing, dairies receive high quality feed and Jentzsch Kearl Farms receives longer rotations to break disease cycles on row crops.
